The natural world is full of so many amazing natural colorants. We believe in what the Earth gives us, and believe they make the best colors. You can find a variety of conventional and certified organic natural food powders that work as colorants AND as skincare ingredients. The benefit of using a plant as your colorant also means you get the benefits of those plants.
We know that many of you are looking for micas and glitters. We have chosen to stay with the natural and organic colorants, as that is our specialty. There are many companies out there where you can get the full array of synthetic colors.

Kandra has been making soap with natural colorants since 2010. She is the proud mother of 3 homeschooled children and lives with her husband in Denver, Colorado. Her struggles with finding a perfect reproducible purple started her down her path to color blending, finding new ways to create soap colors with all-natural ingredients, and have introduced her to lifelong along the way. She wrote this guide to natural colors with the hopes of sharing her joy of soapmaking, nature, and the combination of her artistic passions with other soap makers. KandraΓÇÖs natural soap colors have been brightening the showers and sinks of her customers for years, and now they can find a new glory in your soaps! Cold-pressed and virgin oils keep more of the plant's colour, scent and unsaponifiables, which makes them the better choice for leave-on skin and hair products. Refined oils are filtered for a lighter colour, neutral scent and longer shelf life — the safer pick for soap, candles and anything you intend to scent yourself. Expeller-pressed sits between the two: mechanically pressed with no solvents, but heat is generated in the process.
Refined avocado, apricot kernel and babassu cover most cold-process recipes — a soft oil, a light conditioning oil and a hard oil for bar firmness. Babassu is our recommended palm alternative.
